John Baughman studied art at the University of Michigan, the University of California at Berkeley and at the Otis Art Institute of Los Angeles. He learned papermaking at the Twin Rocker Paper Mill in Brookston, Indiana.
Early works were directly affected through relationships with various artists in the graphic and fine arts community. This affinity generates some of the intense attraction for John’s monoprints amongst designers and collectors. John’s monoprints isolate the architecture of the environment.
His mixed media paintings reveal generous dimensions and thoughtful textures. His deep layering of paints, oil, crayon and gold create forms and planes expressive of the finest in contemporary design.
