Vinoy Renaissance Hotel, St. Petersburg FL
The Renaissance Brand’s motto is ‘unexpected discoveries’, a promise they fulfill by striving to make every guest’s experience an “opportunity to discover something wonderfully new”. To help them curate this kind of an experience for their guests during the renovation of the iconic Vinoy Renaissance Hotel, Kevin Barry Fine Art’s hospitality art consultants tapped into the building’s historic past and coastal Floridian spirit. Built in 1926, this nearly 100-year-old property called for a mix of modern and traditional elements to compliment it’s bold flamingo pink exterior and Art Deco interiors.

For this project, KBFA sourced playful beach scenes for the ceiling art at each elevator landing, choosing black and white images with modern flourishes of blues and pink. In the guest bathrooms, a playful piece of hotel art mixes elements of pop art and photography to showcase a woman overlaid with a pink mermaid. A carefully curated guest room side wall gallery with a sculptural resin coral and modern underwater photography was paired with a bold abstract to root the guests experience in the beachy, resort-town vibes of St. Petersburg.
“Working on a property as iconic as the Vinoy Renaissance and helping to bring it into the 21st century while staying true to its classic Art Deco roots was a fun challenge. We were inspired by the coastal, sun-soaked surroundings, the Meditterranean Revival aesthetic of the property, and the hotel brand’s appreciation of the unexpected. KBFA brings the beach into each room of this hotel, without all that pesky sand!”
